The PI/IT Academy is I&C’s HR cultivation program to foster PI/IT experts as proactive IT enablers. This year, two classes were offered, namely the IT expert course (ERP) in the H1, and the PI course in the H2. The IT expert course was divided into the DI SAP Track and the DHI Oracle Track, and the PI course gradually offered STEPS, understanding of customers, PI methodology, and PI methodology practice in a systematic scheme to foster PI experts. Notably, the 10-week practice course challenged participants to derive IT value enhancement-oriented business process improvement tasks, to think strategically, and to strengthen their PI capabilities to convert customer weak points into innovation points. Among a total of eleven tasks given, three tasks offered opportunities to acquire and internalize strategic problem solving capabilities by applying the 7-STEPS methodology and deriving improvement tasks. Task performance results will be adopted as action items to boost the company competitive edge. Doosan I&C Head Sungjin Choi congratulated participants on their efforts, and asked them to become field IT experts as true proactive IT enablers. The second PI/IT Academy students will continue to carry out their PI tasks after completing the course and to bolster their capabilities. They will continue to serve as faculty and in-house instructors to enhance their own as well as their colleagues’ competence.
